TROLL BRIDGE

Created by Snowgum Films

Cohen the Barbarian was angry. Angry that he never died in battle, angry that the world had forgotten him, and angry that his knees were starting to play up in the cold. He was also angry that his faithful mount had been gifted the ability of magical speech. The horse was insisting that they had made a wrong turn back at Splice. He was also angry that the horse was probably right. This was not how it was supposed to end for the barbarian. This was not how the Discworld’s greatest hero imagined it at all... - - - - - - - - - - - - TROLL BRIDGE is an short film based on the story by celebrated fantasy author Sir Terry Pratchett. Okay… so we’re slowly getting the hang of these reports, as well as reasonable estimation dates alterations. It’s a bit slow going at the moment because the model building, rigging and texture tasks are traditionally performed by one person on each asset. Once we get to animation – we'll be in a position to divide the workload over a larger spread of people, so you can expect things to pick up a bit.

For now though, we’re eager for more help with the shot preparation tasks. Especially tracking.

We’re currently putting a call out for those departments, so if you know anyone, please get them to get in contact with us via [email protected]. Primarily we’re looking for people with Nuke experience, or able to spit out Nuke tracking data. A lot of our tracking work currently involves aligning the 3D bridge into position - so it's actually a lot of fun. If you know anyone (or you are someone), please drop us a line! We’d love to hear from you!

Oh yeah... and we're also now confirmed as coming to the next International Discworld Convention, so look out for further details on that one.  ;)

Next schedule due April 2!

Schedule Report Feb 28

And here it is!  Our NEW bimonthly Schedule Report!

Click here for a larger version.

We'll be publishing one of these suckers at least twice a month, so you - our faithful backers - get a chance to see exactly where we are up to with the film.  It also means there won't be any sudden date changes, as you'll see them slightly shifting from report to report as necessary.  With that said - we've been playing to these completion times for a while now, and they seem to be sticking pretty well.

Tasks will continue to be added as we create them - but consider the ones above our "big ticket" items.  They are the hardest and most important of the tasks we still have ahead of us

You'll also note that our completion date is looking to be around late July.  Whether we hit that date or not, we'd like to have an in-progress backers only screening sometime in August.  If we do hit that date with a completed film - we'd still like to have that screening anyway.

So if anyone knows where we could find... oh, I don't know... a large gathering of Discworld fans early August, let us know.  ;)  We'd absolutely be up for some continent hopping.

A lot of love went into this report.  Mad props goes out to our new Pipeline Manager Travis Geldard, our Layout Designer Thom Holland, and our new character artist Guillaume Bonnet.  You can see more of Guillaume's awesome work here.

So until next fortnight!  Please post any questions you may have in the comments below.

Thanks guys - can't wait to bring it to you!

Updating the Future
almost 11 years ago – Sun, Jan 19, 2014 at 01:35:54 PM

Hey guys, we're going to miss February, but the good news is, is that we're still slogging through.  We had some amazing breakthroughs over the holidays and now with some added help we're now looking stronger than ever!

We're working hard on restructuring our post-production workflow and we've become more vocal about asking for help when we need it.  The post-production crew grows daily as a result.

We're also creating a position which is, for want of a better title, a public relations officer.  An area we know we're not doing a great job at, is letting you guys know where we are up to.  As a result, we're going to release a weekly graph and update of where we are up to with every single aspect of post.  This will include goal dates for each aspect, so you'll be able to see how well or badly we're doing at any one moment.  It's being built primarily for internal purposes, but we see no reason why you guys shouldn't see it too.

While we'll be posting this weekly update directly to our Facebook, Twitter and Google+ pages - we'd like to ask you guys how often you want to be bombarded with it here.  From feedback we've seen on other campaigns as well as our own, we suspect weekly may be too much.  Please post in the comments on how often you'd like an update and we'll work at making that happen.

We hope everyone had a great Christmas and that 2014 is shaping up to be an awesome one for you!
